Dr. Gabriela Nagy is a bilingual/bicultural (English-Spanish) licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychotherapy to adults. Dr. Nagy specializes in addressing a variety of concerns such as clarifying goals and values, improving mood, managing stress and anxiety, enhancing interpersonal communication skills, and developing emotional intelligence. Her practice also focuses on increasing relationship intimacy, overcoming anxiety-provoking situations like public speaking, and building resilience in the face of stress and acculturative challenges related to immigration.

With a deep commitment to cultural humility, Dr. Nagy is dedicated to understanding and addressing contextual and sociocultural factors within the therapeutic process. She places a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals exploring sexual orientation, gender identity, and navigating issues related to discrimination. Her practice is characterized by a compassionate and inclusive approach, ensuring all individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered in their journey towards mental health and well-being.

Grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBTs), Dr. Nagy employs contemporary and process-based approaches validated by rigorous scientific research and peer-reviewed studies. Her therapeutic philosophy integrates acceptance- and change-based strategies, emphasizing present-moment awareness through mindfulness and meditation practices while adapting her approach to meet each patient's unique needs and preferences. She draws on a diverse array of treatment modalities including Behavioral Activation, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

In addition to being co-founder of the Center for Evidence-Based Practice, Dr. Nagy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dr. Nagy is the Principal Investigator of the EQUITY Research Group, which is devoted to tackling social drivers of health to reduce health inequities among communities that have been historically and presently minoritized. The work of the EQUITY Research Group is deeply community-engaged and focused on increasing access to mental healthcare to the most underserved members of our community, with a particular focus on immigrants and refugees.

Dr. Nagy received her PhD and Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado-Boulder. She completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Duke University, where she was also faculty prior to returning to Wisconsin.
